The ADX itself is computed as a smoothed moving average of the absolute difference between the +DI and -DI, normalized by their sum. This computational process yields a single line oscillating between 0 and 100, which reflects the magnitude of the trend rather than its specific direction.
Methodology
Utilizing the ADX indicator in crypto trading involves interpreting its value to confirm trend strength and validate trading signals generated by other technical tools. A rising ADX suggests increasing trend intensity, while a falling value indicates trend weakening or consolidation. When the ADX surpasses a predefined threshold, often 20 or 25, it signals a strong trend, prompting the application of trend-following strategies.
