Mechanism
Miners perform computational work by repeatedly hashing block header data, combined with a nonce, until a hash value below a specific target difficulty is discovered. This process is inherently random but requires significant computational cycles to achieve. Upon finding a valid hash, the miner broadcasts the new block to the network for verification by other nodes, which then add it to their copy of the blockchain, accepting the work as proof of validation.
Methodology
The methodology utilizes a probabilistic lottery system, where the likelihood of solving the computational puzzle is directly proportional to the amount of hashing power contributed. This incentivizes honest participation by rewarding successful miners with block rewards and transaction fees.
