Mechanism
The operational logic involves a general partner (GP) identifying certain assets within an existing fund that warrant a longer investment horizon than the fund’s original term. The GP then creates a new Continuation Fund and offers existing limited partners (LPs) the option to either cash out their holdings in these specific assets or roll their interests into the new fund. New investors are also brought in to provide liquidity for those LPs choosing to exit and to supply additional capital.
