Front-Running Attacks

Meaning

Front-Running Attacks represent a predatory trading strategy where an entity with privileged information about a pending transaction uses that information to execute its own trade ahead of the original transaction, profiting from the anticipated price movement. In crypto, this often occurs on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) or during high-frequency trading, where miners or bots observe pending transactions in the mempool. Its purpose for the attacker is to extract value by exploiting informational asymmetry and transaction ordering.
