Multilateral System

Meaning

A Multilateral System, within the digital asset domain, refers to any arrangement or platform that brings together multiple buying and selling interests in cryptocurrencies or tokenized assets, enabling them to interact and execute trades. Unlike bilateral or dealer-centric markets, these systems facilitate direct matching of orders among numerous participants based on non-discretionary rules. Examples include centralized crypto exchanges, decentralized exchanges (DEXs), and various institutional RFQ platforms that aggregate multiple liquidity providers.
