Perpetual Options

Meaning

Perpetual Options are a type of derivative contract in crypto markets that grant the holder the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell an underlying digital asset at a specified price (strike price), without an expiration date. Unlike traditional options with finite lifespans, perpetual options continually roll over, requiring a funding rate mechanism to align their price with the underlying asset’s spot price. These instruments are highly relevant for institutional options trading and smart trading, offering flexible hedging and speculative opportunities in volatile crypto environments.
