Real-World Asset

Meaning

A Real-World Asset (RWA) refers to any tangible or intangible asset that exists outside of a blockchain and whose value is derived from its traditional economic utility or legal claim. These assets are tokenized, or represented digitally, on a blockchain to enable their use within decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystems. Examples range from real estate and commodities to intellectual property and traditional financial instruments like bonds or invoices. The primary purpose is to bridge the liquidity and efficiency of blockchain technology with the vast value stored in conventional assets.
