Reversion Alpha

Meaning

Reversion Alpha refers to the excess return generated by trading strategies that capitalize on the tendency of asset prices or financial metrics to revert to their historical average or mean. In quantitative crypto investing, this represents the abnormal returns realized when a cryptocurrency’s price, relative value, or spread deviates significantly from its long-term equilibrium and subsequently corrects. Its purpose is to exploit temporary market inefficiencies or overreactions for profit.
