SecurityIDSource (Tag 22)

Meaning

SecurityIDSource (Tag 22) is a critical field in the Financial Information eXchange (FIX) protocol that specifies the scheme or symbology used to identify the financial instrument referenced by SecurityID (Tag 48). In crypto trading, this tag indicates whether the SecurityID is, for example, a ticker symbol from a specific exchange, a contract address on a blockchain, an ISIN, or another proprietary identifier. Its purpose is to provide context for the SecurityID, ensuring correct interpretation and lookup of the asset across different trading systems and data providers.
