Mechanism
Incoming network traffic is duplicated, with copies routed to both the established production environment and the newly deployed “shadow” instance. The shadow service executes the requests, often interacting with a replica or read-only version of the production database. Responses generated by the shadow instance are typically not returned to the client but are instead logged and analyzed for performance metrics, error rates, and behavioral discrepancies compared to the live system.
