Volatility Proxies

Meaning

Volatility Proxies are observable market indicators or historical data series that serve as substitutes for, or estimates of, the future expected price fluctuations of a crypto asset. Since true future volatility is unknown, these proxies provide actionable information for risk assessment and derivatives pricing. Examples include historical volatility calculated from past price movements, or implied volatility derived from options prices. Their purpose is to provide measurable data points for quantifying uncertainty and informing trading decisions in digital asset markets.
